Artistry Engineered for the Table

IMG_0901.jpeg

MatMakers is an American design company creating enduring table décor inspired by craftsmanship, materiality, and timeless design. Its inaugural product line, Modern Legacy, reimagines the table mat as a lasting design object—designed not merely for today's table, but for generations of gatherings to come.

The foundation of Modern Legacy is a custom-dyed, high-density 15-inch round micro-braid table mat developed specifically for the line. Its hallmark is a refined table-flat profile that combines exceptional resilience with understated elegance. Unlike traditional beaded textiles that can be too delicate for frequent use, Modern Legacy is designed for longevity. Each Signature Graduated Arc is securely anchored to preserve both its structural integrity and visual distinction through years of everyday use.

Whether defining an intimate dinner setting or bringing distinction to a boutique hospitality environment, these table mats offer a rare combination of artisanal beauty, archival quality, and effortless care.

The Modern Legacy Color Philosophy: Beyond the Trend

In a world of fast-changing trends, Modern Legacy is a deliberate expression of archival permanence. Its colors are chosen not to define a single season, but to feel as though they have always belonged in beautifully lived-in interiors.

The Core Four palette was developed through the study of historical textile colors and enduring interiors. These are not merely colors—they are lasting foundations designed to anchor a room with warmth, depth, and quiet confidence. The restricted Core Four palette creates aesthetic continuity across the entire collection. From the geometric precision of ORIGIN to the expressive textures of PLEIN AIR, each Style is intentionally designed to coordinate naturally with the others. A Modern Legacy table is not assembled from isolated pieces; it is built as a cohesive collection that evolves beautifully over time.

The Curated Core Four

  • Antique Cream: Antique Cream is a luminous warm ivory that reflects light without feeling cold. Evoking parchment and substantial linen, it provides a softly illuminated foundation that allows the glass elements of the LUMINA Collection to shine.

  • Heirloom Navy: Heirloom Navy is a midnight-depth blue with the versatility and authority of a true neutral. It provides a refined anchor for gold accents, crystal beadwork, and richly layered tables.

  • Vintage Currant: Vintage Currant captures the deep, wine-stained richness of archival tapestries. Rich rather than bright, it introduces restrained drama while remaining elegant, sophisticated, and enduring.

  • Aged Walnut: Aged Walnut is a grounded organic neutral that pairs naturally with dark wood, natural stone, and layered interiors. Its earthy warmth is designed to outlast passing color trends while providing a timeless foundation for every Collection.

Modern Legacy

| Manifesto |

Modern Legacy bridges archival tradition and contemporary living. We believe that true legacy is found in the values we uphold and the personal impact we leave behind—and that the objects surrounding those moments should be designed to endure alongside the memories they help create.

Modern Legacy is built around one enduring shape and four custom-dyed colors, grounded in a proprietary

15-inch high-density micro-braid. Its Signature Graduated Arc brings together jewelry-grade glass, stone, and metal in a disciplined composition designed for beauty, stability, and lasting use.

We do not simply dress a surface; we create a table-flat foundation for the rituals, conversations, and connections that define a life well lived. This is functional design, engineered for longevity and shaped by the enduring relationship between craftsmanship, proportion, and restraint.
